why would a cat pant

Customer Question

why would a cat pant

Welcome! My name is Dr. Andy. I am a 2003 graduate from UC Davis, and currently a Medical Director of a veterinary hospital.

I am sorry to hear about this concern.

Cats, under no circumstances, should be panting or open mouth breathing!
This can be caused by:
- extreme stress
- asthma
- pain
- bad nausea
- heart disease

Absolutely, even if panting was to improve, a cat should be evaluated by a vet ASAP for any breathing pattern that resembles panting.

I hope that information has been helpful.
