I gave my 1 year old cat Rose her flea treatment, Advantage,

Customer Question

I gave my 1 year old cat Rose her flea treatment, Advantage, this morning. About 2hrs later I noticed she had licked around the area where I put it. She's a little wriggler and some went a bit lower than I would of like. I have now washed it off , she has a had a little drink and some biscuits and is now sitting quietly. Do I need to give her a bath, make sure there's none on her at all, get a vets appointment or will she be ok? Thank you.

ERvetguy :

Hello, my name isXXXXX and I would be more than happy to answer your questions.

ERvetguy :

I understand you recently placed Advantage on Rose, where did you put it on her?

ERvetguy :

Luckily, Advantage is extremely safe with minimal side effects even if licked

Customer:

On the base of her head. She wriggled a bit and some went a bit lower.

ERvetguy :

You should make sure you place the product between the shoulder blades by parting the hair and applying the product in that area

ERvetguy :

good, yes sometimes that happens

ERvetguy :

she should be fine

ERvetguy :

things to watch for would be any vomiting, diarrhea or twitching episodes

ERvetguy :

if you notice any of those then bring her straight to your vets office

ERvetguy :

you do not need to give her a bath

Customer:

That's what I try to do. She doesn't like being held at all! She's sitting quietly, seems like her normal self. And she's eaten since.

ERvetguy :

At this time there is no need to see your vet

ERvetguy :

good, I think she will be fine, this product is extremely non toxic, side effects are about 1-10,000-100,000 cats

Customer:

Because I washed it off do I need to do another treatment? And when is best?

ERvetguy :

but please monitor for any vomiting, diarrhea or twitching episodes just in case

ERvetguy :

yes if washed off, you should apply another treatment

ERvetguy :

please wait 1-2 days though to make sure her coat is fully dry

Customer:

Ok. Thank you for your help.

ERvetguy :

you are quite welcome, if any affects are going to be seen, it would be in the next hour

ERvetguy :

after that I wouldn't worry about any potential side effects

Customer:

I will keep an eye on her.

ERvetguy :

I will check on Rose in the next 24 hours

ERvetguy :

keep me posted if anything changes!

ERvetguy :

but I think she will be just fine

Customer:

Thank you

How is Rose doing.

I am assuming she is still her normal self, have you applied another dose yet?

Keep me posted,

Sincerely,
