I am sorry to hear you are worried about your cat.
My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian, and will do my best to help.
What medication was it, and what strength?
This may not be a problem, depending on what the medication is.
You cat's weight will also help me.
I need to know the actual medication: praziquantel? Pyrantel? Piperazine?
OK. Thanks. Let me do some research, give me a moment. So you gave him a whole tablet of this?
So you gave him one tablet total?
So how much did he get? 2 tablets?
Normally I would give a 4 kg cat about 40 mg of pyrantel. He got 460?
That would be a high dose.
I am surprised it said to give 1 1/2 to a 4 kg cat. Still, pyrantel is pretty safe. If he got 2 tablets, he got about 10 times the dose he needed. We do not see reactions in cat given 7 times the recommended dose.
The dose of praziquatel for a 4 kg cat is 23 mg; he got 40 mg. It is also pretty safe, however.
I would expect to see nothing, or possibly some vomiting.
How long ago did he get it?
If you are worried, you could take him to a vet to induce vomiting, and get him to bring the pills back up.
There is no safe way to do this at home.
But from my reading, he should be OK.
I will be checking back, to see how he is doing.
Is there anything else I can help with, or answer?
