My phone keeps saying storage space running out and will not

My phone keeps saying storage space running out and will not let me download any app updates when there is still 180mb left and updates are only 10mb. Also I have gone through phone deleted all pictures, logs, have only 5apps so cannot understand why I have no storage ??? I also have an sd card which has loads of memory and when I go to device memory I still have lots of space.

Go to settings- storage/internal memory and tell me what says there please.

Yes it is, it can be named either

Total space 1.97 gb, application 235mb, available 179mb

ok, this is the problem

Can you go to Settings, Applications.

Look at all your downloaded applications and press each one.

Look for the option to Move to SD

Not all can, so do this for as many as possible

Once done, restart the phone and let me know if you have enough space now to perform your updates.

Yes I had done that already and still saying same thing.

ok, Are you able to download Astro File Manager from the Play Store?

ok, open it and look for the .trashes file and delete it.

Then try your updates and Let me know the results please

ok, this usually takes up the most space, but if you do not see it, then it will not be.

We will then need to Factory Reset the phone Gemma

Before we do. Do you have any data you need to backup off the phone? As this removes all the data.

Just photos and contacts. How do you do that?

ok, download on your computer kies from the address below please

www.samsung.com/us/kies/‎

Install it then run it.

Once done, connect the phone to the computer and perform a backup.

this will backup the contacts and copy the photos to your computer.

Once completed, disconnect the phone from the computer.

Go on the phone to Settings, Backup and Reset, then press Factory Reset.

Complete this, and when it has finished, setup your phone like you did when you first received it.

The memory will then be cleared and you can download your Apps and their updates.
