My iphone 4 does not work on the button (Dimple) on the front.

Resolved Question:

My iphone 4 does not work on the button (Dimple) on the front. No response. I have to power down then switch on again at the top of the device, each time I want to change a function (say from texting to using camera)

Hi, if you press and hold both the Home button (dimple) and the power button down at the same time does the iPhone restart after 10 seconds or so OR does it display the Slide to power off screen?John
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hi, it gives the slide to power off screen

Hi,

Thanks, ***** ***** 'slide to power off' screen

Expert:  John T. F. replied 2 years ago.
Hi,
In that case you have a physically defective Home button. This is a semi common problem with older devices but it will require repair at an authorized service center.
In the mean time, though, you can use a virtual Home button to make the device easier to use.
Tap Settings
Tap General
Tap Accessibility
Find the option for AssistiveTouch and turn it On.
You should see a new button on screen. Tap it to access the virtual Home button.

Hi, Thank you.

I have already had that advice because I called the shop where I have my service contract.

I'd like to know what the repair cost might be

Expert:  John T. F. replied 2 years ago.
Prices vary by location but you might expect to pay $45-60 USD or £30-45 GBP.
