I have the message no audio output device is installed I

Resolved Question:

I have the message no audio output device is installed
I have tried getting drivers re installed through HP but cannot find windows 10 as the operating system for this pc on the drop down menu
currently I have no sound
the driver listed is avermedia a859 pure dvbt
i have tried to reinstall the IDT hi def audio codec but keep getting this
the installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance
what can i do

windows up dated itself about a week ago, when it restarted there was no sound, then I noticed the red cross on the audio icon

Ok Thanks for the info .

Try updating the driver and check if it helps:

a. Click on 'Start' and type 'Device Manager' in the start search box and press enter.

b. Click on "Sound, video, and game controllers" to expand the list.

c. Right-click on IDT High definition audio codec and 'Update driver'.

d. If there are no update available, then go ahead and reinstall the driver by clicking on 'Uninstall'.

e. Restart the PC.

When I do this it starts to install the driver then I get this
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error when attempting to install it
A device attached to the system is not functioning

and restart the computer ?
