I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your device?

Was it working previously? Or is this a new device?

What is the model of your Internet/wireless modem/router device?

Do you have a laptop/wireless computer that is currently able to connected via wireless? If so, does it have Windows xp, vista, or 7, 8, or Mac?

Do you know your exact wireless/wi-fi password XXXXX Amazon account password?

Turn off the device, then turn it back on, then let me know exactly what kind of password XXXXX is asking for, such as Wi-Fi password, Amazon account password, etc, i.e., is it asking you to select a wireless/wi-fi network name? Or is it asking you to register with your Amazon account / email address?

Is the wireless password XXXXX lowercase or uppercase as shown at the back/bottom of the router bt homehub device?

Are you able to sign in your amazon account with your Amazon password XXXXX the website http://www.amazon.co.uk/manageyourkindle?

Press & hold the power on/off button on the kindle for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on
, then does it ask for the password XXXXX away?
, since it does not let you in with any password, does it let you do anything else, such as go to menu/setting, or open/read an old book, etc.?

That means it's the kindle device passcode, login password, not wireless/wifi nor amazon account password. It does not let you go to settings/menu right?

Have you tried to enter the (wrong) password XXXXX about 5 times, and see if it lets you reset the kindle?

If that does not work, can you try each of these passwords, and see if it lets you reset the kindle:

111222777
111333777

To confirm, it does not let you do anything on the kindle, except entering passwords right?

, then click on "Don't see your Kindle or reading app? Show all" there as needed, then it will show all the pictures and models of all kindles.

Check at the back of your kindle for the exact model such as D01200 or D00901, etc.

I'm sorry, for some really older models, the end-users cannot reset the password XXXXX:
