I understand that your HP Photosmart printer is able to print properly
but the COPIER functionality is not working
Are you having problem with ONLY copy or scanning is also having problem?
Can you check if scanning is working fine or not?
Both copy and scanning are done by placing the original on the glass
when you try to copy or scan, you should see LIGHT under the glass when you try to do the operation. is that happening?
Also printer should make sound when the actual copy or scan is happening. do you hear any sound?
Incase SCANNING is working, I have a QUICK trick so that you can copy your document, till the copy problem is fixed..
you can SCAN the document and then PRINT the SCAN
Please answer my queries and we can debug further based on your findings

it still wont copy but I can scan and print

for NOW, please use the TRICK I have provided for scanning the document and then printing the document
For re-installing driver, if you want we can do a remote session and I can download and install the drivers and see if that works
The risk would be if driver install fails your printer may not even print /scan
so it is upto you.
if you want to take the RISK or not
as long as scan and print works and you donot need to copy frequently I think you are good..
do you need to copy very frequently?
When you think the workaround is no longer working and you want to do many copies, please let me know and you would need to spare an hour max and we can use remote session tool and I can remotely login to your computer and try re-installing driver.

we have to try re-installing the drivers
first before we can try something else
ill have to see if I candownload the driver
if that doesnt work then possibly HARDWARE problem and it requires visit to service center
it should be very easy
or a new printe perhaps
just click on the link i gave for driver download
then it would have identified your OS and provided a link to download driver
just download it and once done just RUN it and it should try to update the driver
Once driver is updated you can try to check if print, scan, copy are working fine or not
