Randy, thank you but that is what I have been doing, I think, but your instructions were for a much more modern kindle than mine which is very old and one doesn't tap things, one presses buttons and theyare called menu and home and settings. I think what I did is what you told me and suddenly yesterday evening the wifi signal came on, so I tried to download something, but it turned off before I could finish it. Later it came on again when I was in the room immediately above the wifi. Again it went off before I could use it. It is very frustrating. Any other ideas? I've turned off the whole kindle several times, but that doesn't do it. I'm going away for xmas later this morning but will be back on boxing day.. Saltoun

Okay, try holding the power button for 40 seconds. That should completely reset the Kindle. Then check the wifi.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes, I tried holding the on/off switch for 40 seconds and then restarting it. but it was no good. How would I check the wi-fi? It seems to have plenty of green lights on. Saltoun

Do you have any other devices connected wireless through the router?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the router? Saltoun

Hello! Thank you for your question. I am a licensed network professional with over ten years of experience, and I will be assisting you today.

I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your kindle, such as D01200? Please check at the back of it.

What's the brand/model of your internet modem device? (Usually, the internet modem was given to your from your internet service provider.)

When you go to the menu/setting on the kindle, do you see the Wireless or Wi-Fi option there?

Please reply at the box below. Thank you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The model no. is D00901 as far as I can see. It's very difficult to read.

The wi-fi is BTHomeSpot-R6P

When the Kindle offers me a choice of 3 wifi networks I choose that one. It then asks me for the password ***** while I am entering it, the kindle changes my choice to BTbusiness Hub and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. Any suggestions? Saltoun

Do you know how to check / confirm your Wi-Fi / wireless password?

Do you also have a windows or mac computer?

Please reply at the box below. Thank you.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The wi-fi password ***** ***** a plastic card tucked into the back of the wi-fi.

My computer is Windows XP Saltoun

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 2 years ago.
The wireless password ***** have been changed by you or someone. Can I connect remotely to your computer, so I can check your modem's wireless password ***** through your computer together with you? Please reply at the box below. Thank you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes, but my wi-fi didn't come with my computer. I had one produced by BT when I got Broadband, but it was not much use, so my computer expert got me the present one which worked very well for quite a long time and then suddenly started to play up. The password ***** a7ad7db76e Saltoun

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 2 years ago.

Are you having trouble downloading / installing the Elsinore.ScreenConnect file from the website I've provided?

Is the kindle turned on now?

Is the kindle asking for your wi-fi/wireless password?

And/or can you contact your internet service provider for the wi-fi / wireless password (it is case-sensitive)?

Thank you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes my kindle is turned on. Yes it asks for my password ***** when I enter it it changes to BTBusinessHub-560 which I think is what I had before I changed to BTHomeSpot-R6P I suppose my internet provider is BT, but I don't know how to contact them and God help anyone who tries to contact BT anyway, in my experience. Since writing the above my Kindle has started saying "forget" after BTHomeSpot-R6PI . I then entered the name of the wi-fi and the password ***** and Lo and Behold! I had a connection which has lasted long enough for me to order 2 books. The only prob lem is that they have not appeared on my home page! Saltoun

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, can you press & hold the power on/off button on the kindle for about 45 seconds, then turn it back on and check?

If that does not work, please sign in your Amazon account at the website below on your computer:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/myk

, then there, click on the Action button of each book you want, then select the Deliver option, then select your kindle device, then click on Deliver.

; if needed, on the kindle, go to menu, then device/account, etc. option and make sure it is registered to the same email address associated with your Amazon account.

Please let me know if there is still any issue. Thank you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So far no problem yet to-day, but I'll try to save or print your instructions in case of need. Thank you for your patience! Saltoun
