I think that if it is directing to the old printer, you ought to delete the old printer from your system.
Start - Control Panel - Devices and Printers
and locate, carefully, the icon for your *old* printer.
(Note whether it has a green checkmark on it. If so that explains the problem.)
Click on that icon for the old printer, once, then Del it with the Del key.
Then restart your computer.
Then go back to Devices and Printers, and locate the icon for your new printer. Right-click on it and select 'Set printer as Default' or 'Use printer as default'. That should put a checkbox on its icon.
