can I reset the password. when I type in the password XXXXX thought I put in it comes up with incorrect password XXXXX I would like to enter it again

  1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left.
  2. Use the keypad to enter characters into the password/PIN field five times. After five attempts, you'll be prompted to reset your Kindle Fire.
  3. Tap Reset.

Yes a kindle HDX received from amazon today.

Please make sure after each attempt that you are pressing enter or submitting that attempt so that you receive the 'Invalid password or wrong password' message

I got the invalid password after each try.

Please press and hold down the power button for a full 20 seconds until the Kindle restarts.

After the restart, please enter any wrong password five times in a row (don't take a break) and you should see the reset prompt.

That is very strange because those are direct steps from Amazon.

Before worrying about a replacement, I just want to make sure we are talking about the same screen. When you power on the Kindle, you see a password lock right away correct?

That is a completely different password then what we were trying to reset. When I asked which password, you needed to say Wireless Network password and not locked Kindle.

Do you have a Windows 7 computer that is connected to the wireless network at the moment?
