Hi Peter,My name is Randy.I will assist you. You can connect to AT&T's or Verizon's mobile network for Kindle Fire models that include a mobile network connection. If you see one of the mobile indicators (4G, 3G, EDGE, or GPRS), your Kindle Fire is already connected wirelessly.
Your Kindle Fire HDX automatically switches to Wi-Fi when you connect to a Wi-Fi network. If you disconnect from a Wi-Fi network, or if you move out of Wi-Fi range, your Kindle Fire HDX automatically switches to a mobile connection, such as 4G, when enabled.
After you connect to a mobile network, you can set up your data plan.
Your Kindle Fire automatically detects nearby Wi-Fi networks and wireless hotspots that broadcast their network name. Some networks are open for everyone to join, while others require a password XXXXX connect. You can connect your Kindle Fire to your home Wi-Fi network, public Wi-Fi networks, and some enterprise private networks.
Note: If you don't know the password, check with the person who set up the network. This password XXXXX XXXXX your Amazon account password.
After you connect to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the network again when it's in range. If more than one network is in range, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the last network used.
