My question is why I am not able to read the second card as there is recording on there - see my original question again. My concern is not about recording additional material.
try to swipe the card remove the one which has the data and insert the 2nd one which is not working to the working slot and check if the device reads the card or not.
I have already tried that - I was expecting TheDoctor to assist me with this issue - as I have gone ahead on that basis.

you can connect the card to a computer see if it reads or not and let me know.

we need to identify the root cause of the problem then only we can determine the cause whether its the card which is bad or the 2nd memory slot which is bad.
I am using the same memory slot for both the cards - one after the other
the second card is either bad or the format is not correct. you can only check the card on a computer and not on the recording device.
if the card is recognized automatically by the computers card reader then you will get a popup saying you need to format the card that means the hardware is good and has been detected by the computer it will format the card and then it will be usable again.
no guarantee about the saved data.
Sandisk helpdesk have already suggested what you are suggesting. They said that the card could be corrupted and an engineer can help retrieve the data on it by going through some procedure.

They did suggest that but were not sure it would help - they said consulting an expert who has previously dealt with this issue is preferable as trial and error could lead to total loss of data if any on the card
so basically your concern is the data am i correct
