do you think it is to do with bt as i pay 1.60 a month for the email address and they have recently made changes to their site!

so there is no problem with bt. it seems there is a problem with the computer you are using, or outlook. are you using a real time protection utility like Norton or avg?
i also have a problem where internet explorer will not open up on the comp! tried downloading again i am told i have i already have it! yes i have mcafee
can you disable mcafee
it seems mcafee is blocking your emails
let's see what happens
after disabling your mcafee, can you go to outlook and try to receive.
and check if you are able to receive without problems, it means there is a problem with mcafee

mcafee was switched off and still having the problem! seems to allow two emails through then the server is interrupted!
i allowed bt tecs to take control of my comp and they went through everything and told me it was the size of the emails! but if this were the case i would have had problems before its only been over this last few days!
i will give bt a ring again! can you help with internet explorer problem?

go to control panel
do you see "internet options" icon there?
can you open it.
do you see the ADVANCED tab ?
it must be the last tab
do you see a RESET button there?
can you press it
it will restore your internet explorer to factory condition
this should fix the problem

but, you need to select "safe mode with networking"
when you are in safe mode, can you check your outlook, also internet explorer
i am going to try taking my computer back a month and see if this will deal with the problems!
