Hi there,
Have you lost all audio from all programs, or only audio through Internet Explorer?

First, check that none of the volumes have been selectively muted in the volume mixer:

1. Try to play some sound.
2. While the sound is trying to play, right-click on the volume icon in the windows system tray and open the Volume Mixer.
3. A panel will open showing the individual volume levels of all running programs that can play sounds. Make sure that the volume level belonging to the problem sound source is not muted.

Let me know if that helps...

Hi Pete,

Thanks for that but doesnt help, there is no icon in system tray, when I look in control panel there is no Realtek sound driver, I had sound before I upgraded internet explorer, but this might be a red herring, regards. Dave

Hi Dave,
That does sound odd. So there is no sound for anything at all...
What method did you use to upgrade Internet Explorer?
What version of IE is now installed on your computer?
Do you have antivirus software installed? If so, have you ran a scan recently?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi, no, no sound at all, think I am now running ie6, will run scan now on avast. Dave

Hi Dave,
Let me know how the Avast scan went.
Also let me know what method you used to upgrade Internet Explorer, so I can figure out if it might have been responsible for the loss of sound...
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for that, scan was ok. Now have managed to fix sound. All ok now. Dave
