just trying to load new Kobo reader and have pressed the wrong language I need English rather than French. How do I change this?

Ok I see that you have mentioned it is in French

Engineer Hamid :

I will give you the steps please to follow

Customer:

when i set my Kobo touch up I pressed the wrong language button should have pressed English but did French insted

Engineer Hamid :

  1. Press the Home button.


  2. Tap the Settings icon.


  3. Tap Settings.(In French: parametres or any of the following arrangement, mise en scène, monture, réglage )


  4. Tap Language. (In French: Langue)


  5. Tap the dropdown menu beside Select your Language and choose the language you would like.

Customer:

I am completely new to computers and any other gadget do you mean the home button on where?

Engineer Hamid :

No problems, the home button is the silver line under the kobo screen.

Customer:

pressing the line but nothing happening

Engineer Hamid :

Ok and nothing is changing on the screen? Which is really weird because that is the button that needs to be pressed to go to home screen.

Customer:

no nothing is happening does it mean the machine is faulty

Engineer Hamid :

The Kobo will need a reset. Can you find the reset button it's a small hole that will need a paperclip or something like a needle small enough to fit inside

Customer:

yes found it

Engineer Hamid :

The hole is on the back of the Kobo

Engineer Hamid :

Can you please put a thin like paperclip unfolded inside there, firmly press into it till you feel it then keep holding for 20 seconds please

Customer:

yes done that a face has appeared

Engineer Hamid :

Perfect

Engineer Hamid :

it will go through a reset now

Customer:

it is still in French

Engineer Hamid :

Right ok, can you try pressing the home button now, does it still not work ?

Customer:

which is the home button

Engineer Hamid :

It's the silver button as per screen here with the home symbol on it :

Ok let's try the next reset procedure this one should change the problem:


1.Hold the power button down for about 15 seconds to make sure the device is off.


2.Once device is off, Hold down the home button and power the device on while keeping it held down. This should force a factory reset.

Customer:

sorry about all this but nothing happening

Engineer Hamid :

Ok no problems can you please tell me at which stage does nothing happen? Does the device turn off after holding the power button which is on the top for 15 seconds?

Engineer Hamid :

Also, I see that it's a new device. Has it been long since you have purchased it and was it purchased from a store near you?

thank you it is still restoring

Ok let's give it a few minutes to restore.
