Were you given the option of having a code sent to you as well?

Also what is the address you need to get into? When you type me the address do not type the @ symbol or it will be blocked from my view. Type it like this someoneAThotmail.com

Ok this is not a good situation. Basically what has happened is you never updated your recovery methods for this account. This means that you left yourself no options to get back in should there be a problem. Many people do not realize how important it is to keep the account updated so do not feel too bad.

The bottom line is this, microsoft cannot just take you on your word due to the large amount of internet crime and dishonest people so the only way back in is to confirm that this is your account.

I have worked with hundreds of people in your situation and I am going to share every possible way. But please understand, there is no trick to this, you must confirm your identity to microsoft.

Now you get three chances to try the recovery form. Hopefully you have not failed 3 times at this point. If you have only failed once I want you to fill it out again following my instructions.

First you must have an email account where they can contact you, if you do not please create one here https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx

Next go to the windows live/hotmail recovery form
https://account.live.com/acsr/

First enter your hotmail address and another email address that you currently have access to

Next click on Continue.***Important: You must provide an email address that you can access or else it will not work***

Next you will need to provide as much information about your account as you can. Be as thorough as you can.

Do not answer any questions under the Billing information section unless you have had a credit card on file at one time otherwise the form will not submit.

Also the form will not submit if you take too long filling it out so try and complete the form as quickly as you can.

The reason you are providing this information is so the hotmail representative can test your knowledge of this account by verifying things only the account owner would know.

Shortly after you submit this for you will receive a confirmation email to the account you provided letting you know that they received the form and you should hear back in 24 hours or so.

If the information you provided them was enough to verify you are the owner you will receive another email with a link to reset your password and get back into the account.

It can be impossible to get the account back if you cannot verify with the form. I have spent many hours researching the options and have helped hundreds of hotmail users that are in your same position.

The methods I am going to share with you are not made public by hotmail but they do in fact work. You will need to be patient though as it could take a couple days. Considering you are about to lose your account though, a few days is worth the wait. It is incredibly important that you very carefully follow my instructions so you complete the procedure correctly.

An option is to reach out to a hotmail representative on their forums, they have access to look deeper into the account and sometimes can help in these situations.

First you are going to need to create another email address with Hotmail. If you do not have one lease go to the following link to create that.
https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx

Once you create the new address do the following.

Please click http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/hotmail/hotmail-support

Next choose "Your account has been temporarily blocked"

Tell them you have not been successful with the recovery form.

Be sure that under "Enter the email address (Microsoft Account) affected by this issue:"

You provide them the email address that is blocked and not the new one.

Under ‘Enter your contact email address:' give them the new account you just created.

In most cases they will respond in 24-72 hours, depending on how many requests they have waiting before yours.

A moderator can take a closer look at your account and work with you to try and help you get back in.

As well as sending the message directly to the moderator it can sometimes be quicker to reach out to them in their public forums and they may message you or ask you to message them privately with more information.

Go to the following link and click Participate and then click Ask a question on the menu at the top. A box will appear. In that box type what has happened. Remember to be very polite and give as much information as you can. Here is the link to the forums:

Microsoft/Hotmail takes account security very serious which is why they make this so difficult and make you confirm all of that information. It is to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
