When it fails to sign you in Tom, what is the exact message you get?

Can you turn off the computer.

Turn it on and keep tapping F8 until you get to a menu.

If can be tricky, so try a few times.

When you are there, choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

This should bring you to a screen you can type in.

To do it this way

Open OS X System Preferences -> Keyboard and make sure Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standart function keys option is enabled (checked):

Open your Virtual Machine Configuration pane -> Hardware -> Boot order and check "Select boot device on startup".

Start your Virtual Machine and make its window active (click on it).
Press F8 before the Windows screen appears.

this will then bring you to the menu.

sorry my problem is i cannot get parallels 9 to open because of the password
