I have Lexmark S605 printer which I am using linked to a PC

I have Lexmark S605 printer which I am using linked to a PC using Windows XP. I have purchased a laptop using Windows 8.1, loaded my Installation Disc but cannot access my printer. How do I get my printer to work with my laptop? I am using a BT Home Hub 2.

I do not want any monthly subscriptions. I just want to get my printer working with my laptop. I thought I was communicating with Lexmark.
