Just installed a new Samsung SSD 840 EVO in place of an HDD..

Just installed a new Samsung SSD 840 EVO in place of an HDD.. The original C drive was a dual boot system window 7 and windows 8. Samsung clone was used to transfer the contents of the 'C' drive which held the windows 7 system and a dual boot to the windows 8 system which is held on the 'E' drive.
Having completed the transfer windows 7 works well. However, can no longer boot to windows 8. Tried windows installation disc with the repair option selected and the windows 8 system was said to be locked.
Please advise how to achieve the normal operation of the original dual boot system of windows 7 or windows 8

It's already installed on drive 'E'. I hope not to reinstall the program. Hope to uses the old HDD as backup if the SSD should fail.

Well the J drive open windows 7 but the message from win 8 was BOOTMGR is missing press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

The only other drive that would open any windows system was the SSD it too opens windows 7 but not windows 8

I believe that windows 8 is still locked for some reason or another.

Hi and welcome to Just Answer, a fee based Question and Answer Company. My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you today.

If the old Drive works fine with the Dual Boot then you shouldn't have to be doing anything special to get it to work on the new SSD. It sounds like something went wrong during the cloning process. I would personally use Acronis or Norton Ghost to make and image of your old HDD then recover it to the new SSD. You can also try the Samsung Clone Software again and see if Windows 8 works this time.
