Pete :

Hi there,

Pete :

What is this in relation to?

Customer:

Borland Delphi 4.

Pete :

Ok it sounds like you are trying to open an existing project, correct?

Pete :

You can search on your computer for the missing .bpi file, or you can search through any backups you may have made.

Pete :

If you cannot find the file being referenced, then you can try editing the project's .bpk file in Notepad or some other text editor. You can then change the package references as needed.

Customer:

Thank you.

Customer:

You are right in that there is a Delphi 4 program n my computer.

Customer:

Contiue.. It is late and I am 91 and goung to bed. Contiue tomorrow.

Pete :

Yes, that's fine - we can continue tomorrow.

Customer:

Good Morning Pete.

Customer:

continue.. I have looked for ".bpk" in all my drives including two external drives.

Customer:

continue.. and found none. What next?

Pete :

Can you search on your computer for .bpi files?

Customer:

Done that, including backups, but not found.

Pete :

Ok, then if you cannot find the file or its backup, you can try editing the project's .bpk file in Notepad or some other text editor. You can then change the package references as needed.

Customer:

How can I edit the project as I have failed to find either .bpi or .bki ?

Pete :

You are getting this error when you try to open a project, yes?
What project are you trying to open?
Are you selecting a project name to open?

Customer:

No. I an not selecting a PROJECT. I am seeking a PROGRAM ie Delphi 4. This is a programming program that I use to create Projects.

Customer:

Contiue.. However. This is not a problem any more. Thanks to your advice, I have searched all my programs and backups. In doing so I discoverd the Delphi 4 installation disk. I ran this and we now have a working Delphi 4! Therefore, we can close this chat. I intend to award an Excellent rating. Thank you Pete for your efforts. Goodbye for now.
