I had trouble accessing my book list and a lady helped me find my wifi etc and there was my book list. Wonderful !! I switched off my kindle and had my meal. When I tried to go to my book list my kindle would not let me because it wanted to know my pass word. But I do not know my pass word. Please can you help me? Thank you.

Which kindle do you have?
Is the passsword you need the one to open your kindle at the start screen or the password ***** your Amazon account?

A basic kindle now about 4-5 years old from amazon

If you can't remember the passcode for your Kindle (not your Amazon password), you'll need to reset your device.

  1. Press the Keyboard key to bring up the onscreen keyboard.
  2. Type resetmykindle into the passcode field, and then use the 5-way controller to select Done.
  3. Select ok with the 5-way controller.

Reset Your Kindle

Reset your Kindle if you forgot your Kindle password ***** need to regain access.

You can't reset your Kindle if Parental Controls are set. If you forget your password, reset your Kindle by entering "111222777" as the Parental Controls password.

sorry to be away so long but my battery needed recharging so I did as you instructed while on charge and my kindle thinks I am a new customer and wants me to re-register eventually I am on a registration page now I have entered my e-mail address but as I don't have the password ***** won't accept me. I feel unwanted and un loved !!! Help Randy this old lady already has grey hair at this rate I won't have any left. Valerie
