I have to stand down for 10 mins
Yes XP with service pack 3
Ok Issue around XP and service pack I have copies of some service packs so if reinstaleled I have discs.
it is not essential to have all XP as its used for a navigation program.
I can connect to my network and give you access
can I sort time for you to do this as I have to go out very soon
Ok I've connected the note book to my network
what do we do to make it visible
Hi Now in office/study for afternoon
note book is pluged into power and network.
Can you advise how if I can shift to basic scheme do I just engage trail period.
Hear from you soon
Hi can yo let me know when you are able to restart repair work. I'm very happy with progress but seems logical to give feedback at end.
I think the idea of you remotly getting into the computer is best course so will wait your instruction
Hi James sorry for the delay trying to get note book on line.
I tried to initiate a recovery reboot so need to exit that and get it to safe mode, any short cut or suggestions welcome.
so I'm working on getting to start with window in safe mode
I seem to be stuck in windows boot manager
info an unexpected I/O error has occured
this is stuck when I exit & restart
this is with dvd drive attached and recovery disc 1 inserted
Ok so i have managed to get top run and restore operating system from recovery disc
it is loading image files at this time I will delay a moment whilst this haoppens. I must say that the mouse is stalled but enter seems to work to take us forward.
Assuming I have restored o/s and I/we can run it to check mouse opperation and determin situation.
No ProblemPlease rate my service and come back any issuescheers James

Hi I some respects this has now gone from bad to worst..
for us to work this out we need a common time as you seem to be on EST I think 4 or 5 hours diffeent if we plan to start at 15.00 (3pm) should be about 10.00 am your time.
In an attempt to get computer online I've tried a number of things.
not being able to get safemode and network options to work together I got to the inbuilt recovery options with the mouse stalled but up and down key selected reinstall OS leave data.
this run but told me that it could not finish and I needed to use the complete re wipe and install
I tried this from the inbuilt system and the recovery discs but neither would complete,
When I boot from the recovery disc I can only get to the recovery system and only the exit option is live so it goes nowhere..
I have tried disabling touchpad and using seperate mouse this is inconclusive.
Error message connection of storage system this shows even when no devices are connected. I've checked Harddrivve as this is a slid state unit
I had fitted new HD and installed all software about a year ago with no problems untill this mouse issue.
options and way forward.
you may have some idas how to getinto the system and if you have some ideas send steps and I will try. also to get computer online.
In th event that that we need to rethnk I have a windows XP disc and if needed a copy of service pack 3 we may be able to install this.
Sorry for the agrovation. it seem rediculas that recovery systems & disc do't work
when I start computer I can get into the Bios via F2
so I can boot from hard drive or DVD/CD Drive
without DVD connected I get screen windows boot manager as before
option entre continue ESC exit (these now don't work) I press and hold to shut down
if I start and hold F2 change boot priority to DVD and then IDEO
save & exit F10 restart, with disc 1
I then evenualy get recovery menu Language eng, this works with mouse.
Select Restore Type only exit is live
click exit long wait attempts to reboot and then back to recovery as above, please conside previous text
on start when I tap F8 eventually I get Bleep alarm But got advanced mode and selct safe mode with networking shall I connect Network wire now
Hi OK connected network cable and selected safemode with network.
after loading files back to rstore type with only exit working this was with DVD attached I will try withour DVD connced and try to get F8 to work and get to safemodeF8 takes me to boot manager with same fault as before.
so with Bios configured to read DVD w get into safe mode but then end up with "restore type" or with out DVD & drive we end withI/O fault as before.
Ok Sorry for delay but netwok down.
So from safemode I have screen message (like MSDOS) but sailing no where to boot from
Im going to try to get into safe mode using DVD Ok achived that
ok it would seem that whether in safe or normal mode using recovery DVD disc to boot system that next stop is resore options as stated before , Language confirm select restore type but only active key is "EXIT" and when you click you return to start up and go round again
Hi I think I understand what is required but from safemode the only place to go is System restore type and exit. so whether we select network or comand exit is only option!
how do we break this
So F8 gets us to safemode
how do we get to CMD
how then to Format C:
hi thats interesting the thing is that as soon as you touch any key to goes to the "select restore type" screen
Ok so if we manage to format drive C: this will wipe it we will lose all data on C: including any partion. is this the same as reloading the OS software
see earlier where I asked about this and the part error message.
Error message, connection of storage system this shows even when no devices are connected. I've checked Harddrivve as this is a solid state unit
I don't think I can get it online with out more control options
Ok Thats what I thought.
I will run xp in the dvd and see what happens.
I'll come back to you
Hi DVD seams to do trick and started loading aftr a time came up with error warning
It suggests running Run CHKDSK /F where do I find this?
Hi I think I should be able to do that if I can get into Safe mode the tapping F8 I have tried it twice but cant get to work.
is there any diagnostics that would tell me if any hardware problems.
the hard drive was replaced with a solid state unit so should be more robust but is everything else in the system OK.
I will try again later
I think you have done a very difficult job its a shame it was not easier to resolve
I need to talk to Just answers about trial period etc so will contact them
Hi James as a follow up/ feed back It would seem to me that all the Program checks we did - did not expose the possible faults with the computer its self as recovery will not start from recovery partion of Hard drive, the DVD recovery disk or an XP sysetmes disc. as we counld not get computer on line. this would suggest a hardware issue (I think). at this point repair is stalled as Im not sure ofstratagy as I think a check of hardware required.
Im happy to have a comment from you but not relying on you.
I left feed back etc and consider we have exhausted the just answer system. many Thanks
Hi James I'm pretty sure I left feed back and did what was requested I did make some comment about the computer but did not open a new thread or Question for reference It would seem likely that the SSD hard drive is the fault we shall see do you want to know??many ThanksAdrian
