Resolved Question:

Socket error 11004 comes up after intermittent broadband connection
I had this before and it caused a failure to my computer, which I had to buy another one
The technical person supplied a Wi-Fi which solved the problem but it appears that it's happening again
I require a replacement router TF521 otherwise I'll have to change my supplier

Where are you getting the socket error at, one which program and would you like me to remotely connect to your PC to troubleshoot the issue directly?
The replacement router can only be obtained through your ISP (talktalk).

Hi Kamil,

The socker error 11004 comes up when I try to download/send emails.

It happened about 12 months ago and a was advised that the error was in the cable connecting the router to the computer. Talk-Talk sent a new one but the same problem occurred. My local computer engineer diagnosed a fault with the router and fitted a W-Fi which solved the problem

I've had to replace my computer as Windows XP has recently been playing up after two updates from Microsoft and I now use Windows 7 but all my records are having to be corrected to suit Windows 7.

The error has been intermittently occuring over the past 3 days and on contacting Talk-Talk they say there is no error with the line and they will not replace the router, so I have no option but to change suppliers.

I thought I would try someone like yourself for advice and will try to send this communication as the Internet light is off and ADSL and WLAN/WPS are flashing

The ADSL flashing means, modem/router is being activated.
just to confirm, are you able to access websites on this machine which is connected to talktalk 04F6B8?
please confirm if the dsl line is connected to port 3 on the back of the router, and if there is a dsl filter in between?

Hi Kamil,

Yes I can access websites but only when the lights do not flash and the internet light is lit

The ADSL port on the router has the cable from the telephone connection which is split into 'phone' and 'modem'

The phone is working but has a slight crackling on it.

There is no dsl filter in between

You will see a program called logmeinrescue.exe, click on it and then it'll ask to run, select run/yes/allow/ok

I'm back home now

Were you able to get a response from Talk-Talk?

The lights are steady at present although I've had a crackling on the telephone line when I made a local call about 1/2 hour ago.

There's a slight crackling on the line now.

The internet connection has just gone down but I'll try to send this (16:23)

Just to bring you up to date.

The system had settled down soon after your efforts with Talk-Talk and the Talk-Talk engineer came yesterday and was here for 1.5 hours.

He tried a new router which didn’t work.

Then he tried another new one which also didn’t work.

He then reverted to the old router which did work o.k., so he decided to leave well alone.

The router lost internet connection just as he was about to leave and he installed one of the new routers but not via cable, so I am still with the Wi-Fi and I’ve kept the old router.

Telephone line is o.k. Checked by both Talk-Talk and B.T.

The Engineer thought there might be too much connected to the ‘phone line (I have a fax and extension phone)

Talk-Talk originally wanted me to buy a new router as the guarantee had run out so they only sent a new cable which a local computer engineer fitted which didn’t solve the problem. In fact something had broken in the back of the computer to do with the LAN cable. It resulted in me having to buy a new computer over a year ago.

They then fitted the Wi-Fi and all was o.k. at the time.

I've been leaving the router switched on all the time now and all appears o.k.

Thanks again for your help with Talk-Talk.

I shall recommend you to any other person I know who has a problem with their computer
