Hello Jack! Thank you for your question. I am a licensed computer professional with over ten years of experience, and I will be assisting you today.

I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your vista computer please?

Please reply at the box below. Thank you,

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

how can i check that?

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.
Is this a laptop or desktop?

What's the brand of your computer, such as HP, Dell, Toshiba, Acer, Asus, etc.?

You can check the label(s) on the computer.

Thank you
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

its a hp desktop that uses vista

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.

Thank you. Please click on Start->All programs->PC Help & Tools -> Recovery Manager (or start->All programs->HP->Recovery manager,etc.)

, then select no for system restore, then select yes for factory... option, or something similar. Video instructions:

If that does not work, turn off computer, then turn it back on, then right away, keep tapping the key F11 until you get a menu, then do the recovery manager/system recovery. Reference:

If that still does not work, turn off computer, then turn it back on, then keep tapping the key F8 until you get a menu, then select the Repair your computer option, then continue to do the recovery manager/system recovery. Video instructions:

for the first option the files you are talking about are not there and i couldnt find them in a search, and for the second and third options the computer did not respond to me using the keys to try and get through to the menus that are shown on the links.

I'm sorry, since your computer does not have the built-in recovery partition, and you do not have the vista disk, then we'll have to try something else. Is there something wrong with your computer that you need to wipe? Please let me know. Thank you

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

is there no way just to do a master reset of the computer???

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.
Sorry. When I used your computer; it ran pretty good. Is there a particular program you are having issue with?

You can download and install / run the Belarc program in order to retrieve your Vista license / product key:
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

, then you can try to burn the windows vista to a blank DVD disk, then use it to reinstall / reset windows. Please click on the website for instructions:

Sorry, I have to go now, can I try later? In the mean time, can you download and save these Windows Vista 64-bit files at the website below:

Go to the section:
http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/57-windows-vista-direct-download-links
Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 English (USA)
, then download and save these 3 files:
X14-63453.exe
boot.wim
install.wim

These files are large.

Also, you need a blank DVD disk and a DVD writer/burner.Thank you.

hi, is there ant chance we can continue with this issue?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

i want my software, including windows itself, to stop crashing. this affects mainly windows but also often itunes and my cd disc drive does not register discs anymore

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.

Please try the following for fixing the crashing issue:

1. Turn off your computer. Then turn it on, and right after the black screen with white text or the computer company logo disappears, press & release key F8 repeatedly until a menu appears, then you select Safe Mode with Networking (note: if there is no menu, then try the same steps again, but this time, press key F8 a bit earlier). Then login and

, then go to the website below to download and install the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program:
http://www.malwarebytes.org
, then click on Scan / Scan Now, and wait until it finishes scanning
, if it finds anything, then quarantine / fix all
, then restart the computer.
(Note: Do not buy anything or try the Pro version; just use its free feature. Also, note that the program name is*****)

2. Download and install the CCleaner software at the website:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
; click on "Download Latest Version" on the right
, then open it and run both the Cleaner and Registry options.
, then restart the computer.

3. Click on Start, then click on Computer

, then right-click on the C: drive, then click on Properties

, the click on the Tools tab, then click on Check now...

, then check both boxes, then click on Start, and confirm Yes

, then restart the computer, and the disk check will automatically start

; this will take up to an hour or more

, then when it's done, check the computer.

Thank you.
