i need to put maximum to 1500 and the minimum also to 1500

Michelle :

yes both 1500

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

once donw ahats theta going to do

that increases the operation speed of the cpu

Michelle :

so helps in loading programs faster

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

ok i need to restart computer now

Michelle :

es

Michelle :

yes

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

ill reconnect once done is that ok

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

Michelle :

further let me know when was the last time the computer was working finr

Michelle :

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

Memory (RAM) 2.00gb

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

no

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

i have hardley any programs on there

Michelle :

and have you experienced anyrandom shutdowns or restarts

Michelle :

or the laptop getting heated

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

thats all i have on the computer

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

no ranyrandom shutdowns or restarts

Michelle :

yes just checked..software part looks fine

Michelle :

any heatups

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

yes the laptop does get quite walm

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

yes the computer does get walm

Michelle :

and how old is this laptop

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

bought mid 2007

Michelle :

ok

Michelle :

now as per my understanding, all software part is upto date and set for optimal performance

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

as far as i can see would you like to remoteconnect to have a look

Michelle :

since there have not been any random shutdows or reboots, the only thing that could be causing this would be the cpu fan

Michelle :

place your hand near the vent and check if you can feel the air blowing out

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

i do have the laptop on a cooling fan stand

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

but give it a few seconds and the fan should speed up

Michelle :

so what about the internal fan

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

is there any programs to test the fans

Michelle :

does it seem to run at proper speed

Michelle :

no programs to test the fan

Michelle :

in case of a critical malfunction the laptop would come up with an error

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

its is verry quiet running

Michelle :

what i feel is the problem is that dust is there on the fan

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

i do feel a tiny bit of air

Michelle :

so its not running properly causing system heatup

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

why would that make the laptop run slow

Michelle :

yes, that would heat up the cpu and if cpu gets heated, the entire machine goes slow

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

and all the vents look clean

Michelle :

its not the vents..its on the blades of the fan that dust accumulates

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

how do i go about cleaning them out

Michelle :

as unit is quite old, it would be out of warranty.if you are comfortable i would suggest you to open the laptop and clean the fan

Michelle :

i can give you the steps

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

ok

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

since unplugging the cooling stand i do feel quite a lot of heat comminf drom one of the side vents

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

the laptop is a dell Inspiron 1520

Michelle :

ok.

Michelle :

owners manual link

Michelle :

page 153

Michelle :

though excat fan replacement steps are not there but you will get steps to disassemble most of it to gain access to the fan

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

i cant open that link

Michelle :

ok let me give you another one

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

all i get is

Michelle :

is there any change now when you open programs or its still slow

Michelle :

let me know and i will suggest further

JACUSTOMER-mq1ukk5s- :

A tiny bit faster but still not fast enough

Michelle :

i have tried most of the steps possible on the software as well as hardware end

Michelle :

there is however one more tool. that i would like you to run

Michelle :

hopefully this should do the trick

Michelle :

you can download and run combofix from below link

Michelle :

download, save and run the file

Michelle :

your antivirus software will try to block it, so please allow it run

Michelle :

one more thing this tool will take 15 mins or more to run during which it might restart on its own

Michelle :

once you get a log report that will be an indication that it has finished

Michelle :

you need to close the report and restart computer once more. restarting is a must

Michelle :

after restart, check the computer for any notable difference in speed and let me know
