Customer Question

Hello,
I have two monitors called M1 and M2.
M1 is on a Matrox RTX2 RTX2 board.
M2 is on a Radeon X1950 pro graphics board.
Originally windows xp was on M1 with graphics on M2.
Since physically reorganising my workspace maintaining the
same cable configuration, xp is now on M2 which is not what I need.
(Different size monitors). I would like to return to my original setup.
I have had this configuration for the past seven years and have never seen this problem before, after disconnecting and reconnecting the cables.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards.

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.

Please re-open the TeamViewer program icon on the Desktop screen when the computer is backed on. Thank you.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

did what you instructed still no joy so reconnected back

Expert:  Viet - Computer Tech replied 2 years ago.

Sorry, so you did this:

  1. Shut down computer.
  2. Disconnect the monitor cable from Radeon graphics card/board.
  3. Turn on computer, and wait until the computer has fully restarted. The main screen should show on the monitor from Matrox graphics card/board right?

Don't do any more step, then let me know if the main screen should show on the monitor from Matrox graphics card. Thank you.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

sorry to say it did not change

Hi,
My name is ***** ***** of the expert in computer category. I would like to assist you with your issue and will be your next active expert.

By the way, have you tried setting Matrox as the default adapter on windows xp?

If not, here's the procedure:
1: From desktop, simply right > Properties > Settings
2: There you can see two adapters.
Select Adapter 1 which is Matrox on your case, then Check this option "Choose this device as Primary monitor "
Also make sure you set monitor to correct resolution
3: Click Apply then OK
See this video for more info

See if it works now

If you still have trouble, please check this
\Make sure the monitor which has connected to Matrox is working. You can check this simply by swapping the other monitor

waiting for your reply
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Thank you I tried your suggestion ie desktop etc.

To recap - what I call monitor 1 is on the matrox board.

however, what is shown in the display properties - settings

is also called 1 on the Radeon board and is in fact my monitor 2.

To summarize my windows monitor should be on the Matrox board and not on the Radeon board (the number 1 is confusing the issue).

I have verified both monitors are working correctly.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Did you receive my explanation of five minutes ago? 7:50pm

Expert:  arsufi2002 replied 2 years ago.

Thanks for reply..

Then select 2 which is your Matrox and make it as the primary display adapter.

Check

Also please let me know whether you get display on both monitor

Please update status

Thanks

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Thank you and can we please continue this tomorrow morning?

Expert:  arsufi2002 replied 2 years ago.
yes of-course

Please update status when you have done.

Thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Did you get previous message sent 7:10 am?

Thank you.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Let's start again - forget monitors 1 & 2 from original question.

The main monitor is on Matrox RTX2 which I use for my operating system.

The other monitor is on Radeon X1950 pro graphics card which I use for display from my editing program.

All was in working order until recently when I reorganized my workspace, keeping the same wiring connections.

However since the the roles have reversed,

i.e. Main - display

other monitor - operating system.

Display properties

1. Plug and play monitor on Radeon X1950 pro

2. (Default monitor) on Radeon X1950 pro secondary.

Thank you.

Eric Fraser.

Expert:  arsufi2002 replied 2 years ago.

Thanks for your reply..

What we intent to do is to set "Plug and play monitor on Radeon X1950 pro" as the primary monitor and "X1950 pro secondary" as secondary monitor

Please do as follows

1: From Desktop, Right click > Properies > Click Settings tab
Select Adapter 2 which is "Radeon X1950 Pro" on your case, then Check this option "Choose this device as Primary monitor "
Also make sure you set monitor to correct resolution
3: Click Apply then OK

This sets "Plug and play monitor on Radeon X1950 pro" as the primary monitor and "X1950 pro secondary" as secondary monitor

Note: If you don't want to extend windows to secondary monitor, simply uncheck the option on X1950 pro secondary adapter.
"Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"

Selecting the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box allows you to drag items across your screen onto alternate monitors

Please let me know the status

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

With all due respect, you have not understood my last message.

I do not want my o/s on Radeon.

I do want my o/s on Matrox monitor.

I already have o/s on Radeon.

If still in doubt please give me your phone number and I will ring you.

Thanks for your help.
