Hello,
I have a brand-new Brother MFC-J6520DW printer (all in one scan/fax/printer)
Despite doing the 'test print', (and that being ok) it comes out very, very pale - nothing like
the document.
I'm printing straight from latest InDesign - and following all instructions!
Is there something I'm doing wrong?

There is only one 'test print' which Brother printer runs. It comes back ok (lines in order, all colours printing, etc.) But when I have tried to print proper documents (InDesign and PDFs) the colour is very, very faint and pale.

I'd prefer you to talk through the options which I may be missing, or to point me in the direction of common printer setting issues. From what I have read on forums, Brother printers do have these issues. Hence why I am asking an expert!

It doesn't. There are only two menus -- 'Open Print queue' and 'Options and supplies.' Neither of these options offer anything else.

Thanks for the link to Brother page, but I had this already. I'm going to have to go offline to do this. I've already been to the Brother trouble-shooting page, and read forum advice. The whole point of 'JustAnswer' was to get immediate advice from someone with a Brother printer!

Of course! As I said - it does print. It just prints too pale.

Hello my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
I want to warn you that it is possible you will need to replace a part in order to fix this.
There are a few different things that can cause this and a couple different parts so we would need to troubleshoot to find out for sure.

Let's try doing a manual cleaning of the machine and see if that helps at all.
If you have any trouble or get stuck at any point please let me know so I can help you.

Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine.
Then clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself.
Do this with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab.
There is sometimes a nub on the cartridges it is normal for a small amount of ink to come out when you push there, just get any dried ink off this area.

Now once you have done all of that turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 seconds
Plug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges message
Insert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still there.
