My new computer is windows 8.1 running office 2010. My problem

Resolved Question:

My new computer is windows 8.1 running office 2010. My problem is this:
I've changed the default font to "Toledo" and ever since doing this each and every time I press the apostrophe key the font reverts to Times New Roman. It's driving me round
the bend. I find windows 8.1 SO VERY DIFFERENT from windows XP. I guess I'm just too old and stupid to work out how to fix this, can you help?

It happens when I use word and when e- mailing. I'm not very clever with computers so please forgive my ignorance.
