Resolved Question:

I have been using my Medion Akoya P7700 D desktop without any problems. However a couple of days ago I found that I could log on but when I got to the main screen when I try to open programmes via screen short cuts or whether I try via the start menu nothing happens. Sometimes a get a little blue circle that goes on and on but nothing happens and sometimes I get half way through getting into the programme I want and then everything freezes. I have not been able to log off properly and have had to turn off the computer. When I switch it on again I get safe mode options etc of signing in. Any help would be appreciated. Alan

Hello
My name is James
Welcome to JustAnswer.
If you start in Safemode dose it work ok ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No it doesn't. I did manage to get a bit further in earlier on. I managed to open a couple of programmes but then I got a message that some updates might need to be installed to ensure correct operation. However when I tried to view any updates waiting to be installed I got the message 'Windows Explorer has stopped working' and also 'Hot process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed'. I now have a message on screen that the document I managed to get into is Not Responding, it will not close and has the small blue circle in play. Thanks.

I have tried CTRL+ALT+DEL as I know this is a way to get to task manager, however when I do this I do not get a response. I also tried system restore yesterday which seemed to work but then didn't. At present I have the computer on with the main screen showing various icons/shortcuts but over that is my documents page in a very pale white showing as not responding. If I left click on headings at bottom of screen and press close there is no response.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
You need to power It off Choose safemode with networking
Then run the System Restore

Tried this with limited success. Tried to restore to a 23/12/14 a date just prior to installing an update. Initially was able to get a bit further into the system but ultimately started getting Not Responding message. I switched off and tried again and Windows Task Manager was not responding, then the screen went blank, just the cursor showing and then I got a message 'Login process has failed to create the security options dialogue - Failure - Security'. At the moment I am no further forward than when I started.

Do you have your data backed up
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Not right up to date and I am running a game which I don't want to lose.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
you going to need to restore > factory restore
which will wipe all data
so you need to attempt to back your Files up
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi, I have managed to back up files to an external hard drive so I think restore to factory settings is my next move. I had to do this about a year ago but can you remind me what to do.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
Sure tap f10 on startup

or use the f8 Menu and repair my computer

ether will get you there

Cheers James

f10 & f8 didn't seem to work so I managed to find the Recovery Disc I had with the computer and used that.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
Perfect Restore > Put your data Back
the Recovery partition only works if its intact
so disk was your best option
