I have an iPad that I have been using quite happily couple

Resolved Question:

I have an iPad that I have been using quite happily couple of years. A couple of weeks ago I was suddenly 'unable to access server' my Yahoo emails...I have tried removing yahoo then adding it again...no use...I am still getting my emails to my mac but this isn't as handy. Then, today, my calendar has 'forgotten' a lot of my dates. Again, it is ok on my Mac Book but not the iPad. Can anyone help please?

I would like you please to remove the Yahoo account from the iPad again.
Then go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset all Settings.
Once this has been done, hold the power and home button 10 seconds, then release.
Let the iPad restart and connect it again to your wireless network.
When it has, add then add the Yahoo account again and tell me if it now functions correctly please.

, this is different on my iPad and I was unable to reply to you. I have done as you suggested. My screen saver has gone but my mail still isn't working and my calendar is missing info.

ok, then the firmware appears to be corrupted, so we need to reinstall this Suzanne.
It is going to clear all data (photos ect) and return the device to new. You will then need to install your apps again.
To do the reset, go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase all data and reset settings.
Let this complete and when you have, add the Yahoo account and it should now function correctly.

it is just restoring settings from iCloud. When I was going through the restoration process, i was asked password ***** an email I had never heard of. Why could this be?

It may be a sign of corrupted data Suzanne, or your icloud password.
Or an account that was once added (maybe by someone else).
Once of these reasons would cause that.

it is in the process of adding all my apps but my mail still isn't working. I still get the reply 'The connection to the server failed'

I have changed my password ***** it works on computer. so just gone onto iPad app and it is working on there...Do I just not use the 'mail' app thingy any longer or can it be connected?

You have to use the App Suzanne, the built in Mail client wont work , but it will work perfect in the App and it is actually better and more secure to use it there.

yes I have done that, entered password ***** and it has taken me to yahoo calendar...do i need to use this instead of the apple calendar? or can I join them?

ok, I want to do a check now to see if we can use the inbuilt one.
Remove the yahoo account from the iPad again.
Then hold the home and power button 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo, then release.
Once it has restarted, can you now add the Yahoo account Mail and Calendar?

It may just be a very slow internet connection, and initially it was corruption, then the password *****
So a lot of issues to sort out, which we did.
You should now be ok.
