The Kindle we have is registered to my wife Rosemary Hocking

Resolved Question:

The Kindle we have is registered to my wife Rosemary Hocking and with her eyesight being far from good I (Mr John Hocking husband) would like to be able to have access to the Kindle. Basically to take over control of it if you know what I mean

Hi! My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you. Let's get started!
Do you want to change the name of the Kindle and add your name to the Amazon account?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Afternoon Josh

Mrs Hocking has lost interest in the Kindle so I would like to take over "the account" so we can continue to use it to its max.

Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.
John,
I understand but there isn't a way to "take over" an account. If you removed her account from the Kindle and set it up with your own account, you would lose all of her books. Are you okay with that option?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Yes I'm OK with that option.

Need to know the steps I have to take to set up my own account. LONG time since Mrs Hocking's account was set up and at 81 I need all the help I can get.

Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.
Okay, great.
There will be two steps; one for creating your own Amazon account and another for removing her from the Kindle.
First, what Kindle model is it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Model No D00901

Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.
John,
First you will need to create an Amazon account:
Click: HERE
Fill out the information for a new account.
After you have the new account:
On the Kindle...
Follow these steps to do a factory reset. After the factory reset, it will prompt you to register the Kindle and you will use your new Amazon account to do so.
