dresteve2000 :

Hi, I am A. Stevens here to help with your question!

dresteve2000 :

Do you know the alternative password? This password ***** take precedence over the fingerprint...did you by chance set the password?

Customer:

I did when I first got the phone but now it's not what I thought

dresteve2000 :

I understand

dresteve2000 :

So somehow a setting got switched so that it is using password ***** of swipe now.

dresteve2000 :

Are you synced with a Google account?

Customer:

No

dresteve2000 :

I see..do you know if your phone is backed up?

dresteve2000 :

The only alternative might be to do a factory reset of the phone

Customer:

No it's not but there's nothing on it of any importance

dresteve2000 :

I understand

dresteve2000 :

So yes let's just do a factory reset then

Customer:

ok

dresteve2000 :

Fully charge your phone.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys, until the Samsung logo appears.
Scroll down using Volume Down and choose Wipe Data/Factory Reset, by pressing the Power Key.
Scroll down (using the Volume Down key) and choose Yes – delete all user data and confirm with Power Key.
Wait for the phone to reboot.

Customer:

Not working

dresteve2000 :

Are you able to get to any of the steps?

Customer:

Just keeps powering down and then back up

dresteve2000 :

Are you holding all keys at the same time?

dresteve2000 :

volume up, home and power

dresteve2000 :

all together

Customer:

yes

dresteve2000 :

This is the normal way to boot in to recovery mode...

dresteve2000 :

not sure why it wouldn't load

dresteve2000 :

is the phone fully charged?

Customer:

OK I'll keep trying...thanks

Customer:

Not quite fully charged yet. I'll wait til it is and try again.

dresteve2000 :

OK no problem

dresteve2000 :
