Can you go to Task Manager -> Performance and tell me what the CPU usage and Memory Usage is at? And also tell me which process from the process tab is consuming the most?

CPU usage is between 1 and 5%

Memory usage is 1.28 GB

Process using most memory is Internet Explorer

This appears to be normal. What exactly is slow? The Internet?

Well, I normally use Google Chrome to access the internet, but both Chrome and IE are very slow to open and access the home page - more than a minute sometimes. I have the same problem with MS Outlook.

Very often I get a message saying the page has become unresponsive, giving the option to either wait or kill the page. I usually wait another 30 seconds or so and the page eventually opens.

Okay. Please do the following:
Hold windows key and Press R
Type msconfig
And Click OK
Go to the service tab, and put a check on hide all microsoft services
Then select disable all
Then click the start-up tab, and click disable all, click apply/ok.
And restart the computer, after it has restarted, please reply back here.

System configuration is not responding

well, I've tried three times now, and waited for over 20 minutes. It is still saying "Not responding".

Tried to close the programme using Task Manager but was unable to reboot without unplugging and removing the battery - logging off message was still displayed after 30 minutes.

Please restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8. Choose "Safe mode with networking" once it starts into safe mode with networking, repeat the steps.

Now please click the link below and download the AdwCleaner program.
https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/
Run this program, select "Scan", then select "Cleaning"
After cleaning finishes, agree to the prompts.
After it has restarted, a cleaning notepad file will show up.
Let me know once you see this.

Close Internet Explorer.
Now hold windows key and press R
Type inetcpl.cpl
Click OK
Click Advanced
Click Reset
Put check on delete personal settings, hit reset again.
This should fix the issues. Please let me know.
