As the first step,
Click Start, type in MSCONFIG and press enter.
Click on the Startup Tab and click Disable All.
Click on the Services Tab and click "Hide All Microsoft Services"
Then click Disable All
Click ok, restart and let me know if the updates install

Can you please go to www.teamviewer.com
Click on Download in the top right.
Go down to "TeamViewer Quicksupport"
Click on Download and download and run the program.
It will give you an ID and a Password.
Please give me the ID (leave a space between each character eg: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) and the password ***** your next message to me here.
Do not close the program, but leave it open.
I can then connect to your computer.

Shaun, it still says the program is closed on your computer
Plus it would have given you a different password.
Restart the computer, then run Team Viewer again and give me the New password *****

I had to go out today and when I returned the whole system seems to be frozen. What is happening?

It signed me out and I could not get back on, it was about 75% through installing updates.
What did you see on the screen?

I'm mailing on another device. PC screen frozen part way through installation. Now PC has switched off.

ok, it was taking a very long time to install the updates, a few hours to get to 75% and with the update issue it may point to a fault with the hard disk

tried to download 6 updates instead of 64 as shown. Still a failure.

Can we try this again tomorrow. I've got an early appointment in the morning and need to get some sleep. Thank you for your help so far.
