I cannot update my computer with some updates. 13 updates are

Resolved Question:

I cannot update my computer with some updates. 13 updates are downloaded and, when it gets to 99% finished, it states that the download failed and is deleting all updates. This has happened about 10 times.

ok, I am James, a microsoft professional and quite experienced with the evils of windows updatewe can get the offline "Admin" download of the updates and I'm SURE that download will work

I have been to 'Activity Center', clicked on the 13 updates and the same happened - got to 99% configured and it erased all updates because of a failure.

It says 'Updates were installed at 14.07'. After I clicked 'check for updates', the same updates are ready to install.

If you're using a mouse, point to the top-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, then click Change PC settings.
Click Update and recovery, then tap or click Recovery.
Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Let it recover , Let me know when done this will not effect any of your personal files

I clicked 'Get Started' and it told me to restart with the installation disk or the USB that I used to save the files on. I have a Windows 8 Pro disk - which I tried - but neither this worked or the USB when I restarted the computer. What can I do now?

The system is now 8.1 so is it correct to use the 8 Pro disk? Will this adversely affect the computer?

if you have windows disk we can restore

do this and let me know it will do a clean install of windows for you
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, then tap Change PC settings.

Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.
