I bought a second hand laptop for my son, I can connect to the internet, but have no browser, I have a memory stick, how do I download a browser to it, to load into the other computer,, not computer literate, so easy steps please

You're welcome. Can you please go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
, then click on Add/Remove Windows Components on the left
, then make sure to check that Internet Explorer checkbox is checked
, then click on Next / finish.
, then click on Start -> All programs -> Internet Explorer

; if needed, click on Start -> Run..., then type iexplore then click OK, and check.

I'm sorry. Does it open Internet Explorer after trying my suggestion? Or Internet Explorer does not exist at all?

Since you have a (USB) memory stick, can you download and save the Firefox browser software file at the website below on a working computer:

https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-38.0-SSL&os=win&lang=en-US

, then plug the memory stick to the working computer, and transfer the downloaded firefox file to the memory stick
, then plug the memory stick in the problematic windows xp laptop, and install, then use Firefox for internet.

Told you I was hopeless,Imanaged to download firefox, but I don't know how to download to memory stick, can you try explaining again

- On the windows 7 computer:
1. Insert the memory stick to the windows 7 computer.
2. Click on Start, then click on Computer, and note the drive letter of the memory stick there.
3. Click on the Downloads folder on the left
(or click on Start, then click on your name / username, then open the Downloads folder.)
4. Right-click on the file Firefox Setup 38.0 there, then select Send to..., then click on the memory stick drive letter.
5. Wait until it's finished, then unplug the memory stick.

- On the Windows XP computer:
1. Insert the memory stick to the windows xp computer.
2. Click on Start, then click on My Computer.
3. Open the memory stick drive letter there.
4. Open the file Firefox Setup 38.0 in order to install it, then check.
