Please follow the below steps
please take out the print cartridge
wait for the insert cartridge message to appear
unplug the power cord
wait for 2-3 minutes..clean the golden contacts of the cartridge and printhead with a cotton swab and alcohol
plug the power cord back in
turn the unit on and reinsert the cartridges
check for functionality
let me know the status and i will suggest further

Michelle, thank you for you attention. The issue is solved. From one of your earlier messages I realised that the ink cartridge cupboard door was open.On closing the same everything came back to life, and the flashing lights went off. Sorry to have troubled you, and i do not object to paying you the said £28.
