Wifi problem. We have a functioning Modem and Router in our home and internet connections are used smoothly. However, our EMachine desktop PC with Windows 7 seems to have stopped receiving the wifi signals so that we cannot use Explorer or AOL. Restarting the router has not resulted in progress. Clicking on the wifi icon on the home page - bottom right - says no connection is possible and sources are not being received.

Can you close all programs on the computer and then click start.
Type in
wireless networks
press enter
Right click on your wireless network and select remove.
Once done, restart the computer and then try to connect to the wifi network.

ok, this is then why its not connecting.
What wifi adapter do you have connected to the desktop? As desktops do noy come with wifi by default.

Sorry - Some uncertainty. This computer is not often used. I do have Netgear arial inserted in a USB slot. Could that be part of the iriginal system?

Unplug it and connect it to a different USB port on the computer.
Tell me if you can then connect to the wireless network.

I have moved the aerial to another USB port. I still get a message saying No Connections are Availlable. Should I be buying some software?

This is our summer home so we are not here in the winters. Last use probably early October 2014.

ok, we need to attempt to do a factory reset.
To do this, click start, type in
system restore
and press enter
Follow the onscreen steps and perform a system restore from a date when it was last working (so from before October).
Let this complete and when it has, tell me if it now connects to the wifi please.
