i have had my kindle reader for some time. a while ago you updated it and so lost most of my books. it seems that my account has not been updated, as it shows my old email address, and refuses to accept my password. Please help!

Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist. In order to make the Kindle usable again it will need to be reset.
There are two methods to do that and since I don't know the model number of your Kindle I'll provide both.

When prompted for your password *****: "resetmykindle" (no quotes, all one word)

OR

at the password ***** enter: ###-##-####br/>
Once the reset is done, connect your Kindle to your wireless network and re-register it.
When the registration is complete all your purchased books will be available from the Amazon servers.

it does not help. The device rejects my wyfy, although the computer works Ok.

Is the computer you are using connected by wireless? If so, what version of Windows or OSX are you using?

Hold down the power for a full 45 seconds and release to shut down and reset the device.

Try to power it on again. If it won't even reboot then there is a hardware issue.
