I have adobe Photoshop elements 8 on my desktop. I want to

Resolved Question:

I have adobe Photoshop elements 8 on my desktop. I want to use it on my Macbook. I used a flash drive to install it on the macbook but when I try to open it, it tells me that the licensing for this product has stopped working. Is there anything I can do to get it working?

Can you start with doing the following please
Quit all Adobe applications.
open Finder and click on Go to folder and enter
~/library
Press enter
locate and delete the following folder:
[hard drive]/Library/Preferences/FlexNet Publisher/
Start your Adobe applications.
Tell me if you still get the error please.

I am not finding FlexNet Publisher, just a lot of com.apple.blahblah files and a few folders

you need to make sure you entered in
~/library
Then press enter, then go to Preferences.
Is this what you did?

I can only tell if you did the procedure I gave correctly Patricia.
The steps I gave which were.
open Finder and click on Go to folder and enter
~/library
Press enter
Then go to
Preferences, then look for
FlexNet Publisher
The reason is by default they hide it so you need to do it this way.

Close all Adobe applications.
Then go to Finder, then Go To Folder
~/library
Then go to Application Support
Do you see FlexNet Publisher there?

Double-click the LicenseRecovery111.dmg
Note: Leave this window open and proceed to the next step.
In finder, Double-click your Hard Drive.
Double-click Applications.
Double-click Utilities.
Double-click Terminal.
Type sudo python
Note: There is a space following “python”. Do not press Return.
Drag LicenseRecoveryLauncher.app from the LicenseRecovery111.dmg window onto the Terminal Window and press Return. Note: Make sure that the Terminal window has the command and the path to the APP file. For example: "sudo python /Volumes/LicenseRecovery\ 11.6.1/LicenseRecovery/LicenseRecover.py”
Enter your administrator user name and password ***** prompted and click OK.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
then restart the mac and tell me if it now works please.

OK I have dragged the LicenseRecovery Launcher, it says

-bash: sudopython: command not found

I guess at this point I should hand over control!

I am copying it from my desktop to the macbook using the shared network rather than the flash. It will take a few minutes.

What exactly are you copying Patricia?
As you have to Install it from the installation, not just copying it from another computer or drive.

Yes. This was recommended in a forum. I have the program on my iMac, installed from disc. The Macbook has no disc drive. I copied it onto the flashdrive and then onto the macbook.

So my initial question was how do I get the program onto my macbook?

No, it is not possible to do this, this is why none of the instructions we have been doing have been working.
You said in the initial message you installed it and then got the error, but your only copying a program file.
You have to actually install the software like you originally did on the first computer, so from the disk or download file depending on how you received it.

Ok that is my misunderstanding.

So I have the disk, paid for, but no disk drive on my Macbook.

at this rate it is going to be cheaper/quicker to pay for a new download from adobe onto my Macbook.

If there is no other way, I won't take anymore of your time.

There is another option, is the Mac with the disk drive there now? And connected to wifi as we can use that disk drive on this mac.

The Mac with the disk drive is here and connected to wifi.

However there may be a problem with the disk drive. When I load the disk , it doesn't appear in finder and ejects automatically. I have had problems with writing disks recently.

ok, then it looks like the disk drive has failed.
So you would either need to get an external disk drive like this one.
