I have tried all your suggested and have now re-installed windows to factory settings.
VGA still works but HDMI isn't doing anything.
when I plugged in my tv I used to get 39W_LCD_TV now it just shows generic pnp monitor
When I try to connect to my tv using this computer the tv reports my screen resolution but shows vertical v:0
this is where my issue lies I think
It appears that when I try to connect to the tv both screen 1+2 appear on the laptop screen...

Just to confirm, you did a factory reset of the computer and still the HDMI is not being detected correct? Even after using multiple cables that are confirmed as working on other devices?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes thats right
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, it is then very straight forward the issue.
The HDMI port has failed.
Its not software as its pre-installed with the correct driver that does work.
IF following a reinstall, it was still failing, then it means the HDMI port itself failed, and that requires a replacement of the motherboard which as long as the warranty has not expired, will be covered and performed for free.
If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Else if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
