What exactly happens when you try to play a disk?

When a disc is inserted, the window shows "READING" constantly.

Can you remove the power to it and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Then connect the power, turn it on and tell me if you can then get it to read a disk please.

No - I've made no discs

ok, either the Lens is dirty and needs cleaning, or the lens has actually failed.
The only way to confirm will be to clean the Lens with a lens cleaner.

Once you have performed a clean of the Lens, if you still have the problem it confirms it is the Lens that has faulted.
In this event The only way to confirm will be to clean the Lens with a lens cleaner.

Once you have performed a clean of the Lens, if you still have the problem it confirms it is the Lens that has faulted.
In this event you are going to have to return the unit to have this replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
