I've got no wireless whatsoever on my notebook since I locked

Customer Question

I've got no wireless whatsoever on my notebook since I locked the notebook for a while yesterday- there's no sign of the icon. Instead there's a square icon with red X saying no connection. I can't set up a wired connection to my router as there's nowhere to plug in an Ethernet cable on my notebook. Flight setting is not on and the F12 button has no visible effect Trouble shooting says plug in an Ethernet cable. The notebook is NP905S3G-K02UK, ATIV Book 9 Lite, 128GBSSD. The router is working fine with other PCs in the house (which I'm using to send you this message). I have tried rebooting everything. I need connection to the Internet urgently - what can I do? Am running Windows 10

I need to get the power cable for my notebook - back in a couple of minutes
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thanks
Its lost the wifi card so we will reinstall the driver.
Can you on the working computer download the driver from my link below
http://tinyurl.com/ox7vvwc
Copy it over via a usb memory stick to the Laptop and run the installation to install the driver.
Then restart and tell me if it then lists wifi please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
will do. I'll let you know as soon as done
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I've downloaded but can't see how to copy it to a memory stick. I have the options of running it or copying the link .
shall I download again but straight to the memory stick?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
It downloads to the downloads folder and you can copy it from there.
Or just download it directly to the memory stick is also good.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not enough space on the stick - am looking for stuff to delete
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok thanks
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it's running now on the other laptop
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
You mean wireless is running or the installation?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the installation! Next step?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
run the installation to install the driver.
Then restart the laptop and tell me if it then lists wifi please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No sign of wifi. I double clicked on the file - would that have installed the driver?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
no, you have to go through and run the actual installation once you double click the file.
Like running any program, double click it and follow the onscreen instructions please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK. It's asking me do I want to let the app make changes to the PC. I've said yes. No on screen instructions after that
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
give it some time to run please, it can take a few minutes to start
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
should it appear in the list of app once it is installed?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
No, it should take you through an installation program
You saw nothing after it asked to make changes?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No - it showed a 'busy' icon for a while but no further instructions
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, it sounds like it does not see the wireless card at all.
But restart the computer, press windows key + R and type in
ncpa.cpl
Press enter and tell me what you see there please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
As before,no wifi. Just luetooth and ethernet, both 'not connected'
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Does this mean send laptop back to Samsung for a new wireless card?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, then we will do a system restore to undo any damage that occurred.
Can you press the windows key + X and click on control panel
Then click on System, then system again then system protection.
Click on system restore and follow the onscreen steps to perform a restore from the last restore pointed listed.
Let this complete and tell me if you then see wifi listed please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok - it's creating a restore point
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
I do not want you to Create a restore point,
I want you to do a system restore please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I clicked on system restore and it then started creating a system restore point
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes, because when you clicked on System Restore, you choose the option to Create a Restore point.
I want you please to go back and choose the option to restore the computer, the second option there, not create a restore point.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Under the system protection tab I click on system restore and it gives a window explaining restore, with a Next button, when I then click Next it tells me it is creating a restore point and this may take several minutes. I've cancelled this. There is no choice at this stage of where the restore point should be
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, appears then to be multiple issues.
We have one more step left which is a full restore, before we do this, can you copy your data off the Laptop as this step will remove the data (programs you will need to install again)
Then once done, power off the laptop, then power it on and at the sign in screen, do not sign in, but hold down the SHIFT button and with it held down, click the power icon and choose restart. Keep SHIFT held until it has restarted into a menu. Choose Troubleshoot, then Reset my PC. This returns the PC to new, so you can set it up again.
Then tell me if wireless then works please.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
How did you go with this?
