Can you go to Settings, Applications Manager
Then swipe to the list ALL and locate Google Services Framework
Press it and press clear data.
Then restart the S5 and tell me if Facebook then opens please.

Are other apps working ok? If you open the internet app and go to www.facebook.comDoes it load there?

If i load it up that way yes but not on the app

Can you sign in there into your account via the phone?

Yes can get into facebook that way just not on the app

ok, doing this for 10 years I have never seen an error Facebook Close.

which steps did you do to do the factory reset?

Went into settings backed up all my contacts photos on to memory card then pressed reset phone then started from scratch when done just like i didvwhen i got the phone but it didnt work

ok, I want you to do the reset this way please
Turn the Galaxy S5 off.
Now press and hold the Volume up button, the Home button, and the Power button together until you see the Android on screen.
Now use Volume down to highlight the wipe data/factory reset option and press the Power button to select it.
Use Volume down again to highlight Yes – delete all user data and press Power to select it.
Wait until you see the reboot system now option and then use the Power button to select it.
When the S5 restarts it should be completely wiped and ready to set up again.
Then install the Facebook app and tell me if it now runs please
