Thank you for your question, my name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you.
Please note, a rating is only needed when we are finished.
When you preform the installation of windows, it will format the hard drive, removing everything on the hard drive.
Do put the windows disk in the computer, then restart the computer and keep tapping any key until the disk loads.
Then during the installation, choose to format the C Drive (you can choose a quick format) which removes the previous installation of windows, and then installs the version from the disk.
Make sure of course to backup your files first off the computer (programs you will need to install again).
Let me know please how you go.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I succed in loading the disk and getting Window 7 on but my computer monitor went dead with Microsoft logo static on it. I am now viewing on my Television screen, which is linked to my computer. I cannot view on my computer screen.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Whats the make and model of the computer?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is this a premium rate phone call
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
I work online here else it is too hard to explain instructions ect.
Can you reply here to my last question please?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is a PACKARD BELL BV. Model. ISTART 2380
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thanks
The TV, its connected to the same port the monitor was correct?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I thinks so. I have the option of switching to the screen of the monitor with my TV remote
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thanks, ***** ***** is the monitor that has faulted, as we know this because the TV is working.
If it was the computer, the TV would also not work.
you will need to use the TV or replace the monitor
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What' can fault the monitor as it was working before I install the window 7 dvd
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
The internal circuit board, its just failed to work now, likely when windows initialized it shorted out the board.
But we know 100% the monitor has failed as the TV is working.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
you would need to set your email up again on your computer.
Which email service did you use?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have Aol. Com and also my Norton Antivirus is on the previous windows
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, remember you reinstalled windows, so you need to set it all up again, like you initially did
So AOL you go to the link here and download and install it
http://discover.aol.com/products-and-services/aol-desktop-for-windows
And for norton you download and install it from here
https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-download-install/current/info
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What about my Back ups can you help to transfer them to the new windows
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
where are the backups stored on?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So do I have to buy a new Monitor?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The backups are stored on a separate hard disk inside the computer tower, I can see them when I switch on Computer
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes, you need to get a new monitor.
The backups you can just copy and paste back to the main computer, just like you would copy and paste any files.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I also have email with Sky. Com Have you got a link for them?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
of course, you can access that here
https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
You said copy and paste back to the Main computer. Which is my main computer?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
C Drive, if you want it actually on the main computer this is C drive.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Please, with Norton Do I need to have a Recovery disk?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Depends on what you had installed, but install it from the link I gave and you will see.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I think you have been very helpful. So you are sure I need a new Monitor, but the Logo is still showing
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
sorry I am not following, so you do get an image on the Monitor?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes, the Microsoft logo is visible and static on the Monitor of the computer
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
so how do you also then have the TV connected?
You have both connected at the same time?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The engineer linked the computer to the TVs so I have the option of using the TVs monitor
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, I was not aware they were both linked at the same time.
Then its likely you have displays extended so right click on the desktop and choose screen resolution then under multiple display choose Duplicate.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can switch on independently. The computer or the TVs
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have tried that It just showed options for Resolutions and nothing else
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
how exactly do you switch? As it would not show the logo unless it is extended.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
To switch from computer to TV screen, I use my Samsung Remote control, go to Sources and Click on HDM13 which is linked to the computer
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
To go back to TVs I click HDMI/Dv1
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
no I mean how do you switch the computer between the TV and the Monitor?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That was what I just said, I use the TVs Samsung remote control, which has Sources on it , and I click on HDMI3 and I can use the monitor of the TVs
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Once I come off it it will revert back to the computer monitors
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Also something do do with NVIDIA control panel
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
You know what I think, because the computer was linked to the previous operating system, the new op. System is not linked to the monitor
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, your misunderstandig the question
I am not asking how you switch to the computer on the TV
I am asking you you switch between the Monitor and TV? Or your saying they are both connected to the computer at the same time?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can switch both on independently. I can just switch on the computer and monitor without switching on the TVs Or I can switch on the TVs without switching on the computer,
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes but how they PHYSICALLY connected to the computer.
Where are they connecting to the computer
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I think it must be by cable. I will have to investigate as it was the enginee who connected it and I have lots of cables connected
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, I need to know this as right now it is not clear how it is actually setup.
It appears the screens are being extended, but it did not indicate this when we checked.
Please find out how its setup so then we know what we need to do.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hooray, because you asked me I went to the back of the TVs, pulled on a cable and now the Monitor is working!!
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes, its all about knowing how it was connected
Perfect!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There is a cable that goes from the back of the computer pillar to the back of the TVs which is what I disconnected and now the Monitor is workinh
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't know what the consequences of pulling the cable out will be because now the cable I pulled out is not connectedness
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
But the monitor is now working
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, I cannot say as I do not know how you have it setup there. If nothing stopped working then it appear no impact.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you very much, The back up is now in progress
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
your most welcome
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I think I have to let you go now. By the way I used to ha be Window Vista and window 7 which were both not genuine and I used to back them up separately. Once I click Back up Does all my Backups go in the same place or I have to do them separately. You may not understand my grammar but I forgive you lol
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
you are copy and pasting, so it goes where you copy and paste to.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you for your help. I think I have covered most of my problems.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
