Have Windows 7 on my PC and Laptop. Have the free upgrade

Resolved Question:

Have Windows 7 on my PC and Laptop. Have the free upgrade option for Windows 10. First should I move (hear no further updates for 7) and second I did try to move to 10 but get message saying primary partition problem - how do I resolve this (if not easy as I am a pensioner and not too computer literate) just say take to computer shop.

Hello,You do not need to upgrade to windows 10, windows 7 is still receiving updates and Microsoft will still be supporting it until 2020. The primary partition message you received could be a complicated fix so if you did want to upgrade I would suggest you take it to a shop. That said, your best bet is just to continue with windows which in my opinion is better and more stable than windows 10 anyway. So in short no need to update to 10 at the moment, you are find continuing to use 7. Thank you for response - although I read in a magazine today that Windows support for 7 has come to an end which initially means an end to updates - this does mean no updates on patches for new risks/malware or whatever - so bit worried this is risk.As answer was non technical difficult to star rate at highest level.Can I also confirm that the payment made is definitely a one off as I got several adverts for continued service at price which confused me. I do not want a continuous account Thank you.

I still use windows 7 on one of my computers and am still getting updates fine. Have a look at this page from microsoft and it shows that they will be supporting it until 2020. So I am not sure what you read. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle Still though, if you wish to upgrade I would suggest you have professional do it for you since you may have some other issue as you shouldn't have gotten that partition error when you tried so their may something more going on.
