Hi,I'm sorry about the issue. First, make sure you did download the correct update for your kindle fire 8.9 version at the Amazon website below:http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200529680- Then please do the following steps:1. Turn on the Kindle Fire, and unlock the screen if needed2, then connect the kindle fire to the computer with the USB cable.3, then on the computer, click on Start, then click on Computer4, then open the Kindle device / letter there, then you should see a folder called Internal storage there5, then drag the downloaded kindle update file to the folder Internal storage (or folder kindleupdates); (you can also copy and paste the downloaded update file to the folder Internet storage)6, wait until it's done copying / transferring7, after it's done, then disconnect the kindle fire from the computer8, then on the kindle fire, please do the following:Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, and then tap More.; or swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.Tap option Device (or Device Options), and then tap option About or option System UpdatesTap Update (or Update Your Kindle.) Your Kindle Fire will restart during the software update. After the restart, the message "Kindle is upgrading" (or "Installing system update") will appear on the screen.Note: If you the computer does not detect the kindle, then download and install Windows Media Player 11 at the Microsoft website below on the computer first, then try the above steps again.http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-media-player-details.aspx- If needed, here are a couple of instructions videos at the websites below; the steps may be a bit different, but similar:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S4PqjAj-Mwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkoUnjZzkXMReference:https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201642370https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201390600http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201177590Please reply at the box below to continue.
