I do not know, but the kindle has a typewriter face on the lower half.

Try holding the power switch to the "on" position for 30 seconds (look at a clock/watch) and wait for it to reboot.Unplug it from all power sources and don't touch any keys until it reboots.Let me know what happens

I would try another charger - if that doesn't work it could be a problem with the actual port on the device not receiving the charge and you may need to take it in for repair.
