i have all books shown but the kindle willnot connect to my Wi-Fi to enable any further downeloading

Please do the following:

Once done, let me know:

Press and hold the Power button for a full 40 seconds. After the first 6 to 8 seconds, the screen will go blank, which is normal.

After the 40 seconds, release the Power button

Also click the link below and run/open the downloaded program so i can check your router settings:
